Dubai: Sweat Proof Make Up for the Summer Months

Look good even in the Dubai Summer Heat by Lucy Rhodes

Whilst doing my daily exercise running around Safa Park last month I noticed that there are some particularly attractive male joggers out and about. One specific rugby type caught my eye and I managed a quick ‘hello’ and was feeling very pleased with myself when I received a double-take and a smiley ‘good morning’. It wasn’t until I returned home afterwards and glimpsed myself in the mirror… mascara all down my face – I looked more like Kung Fu Panda than fitness queen.  With the hotter months approaching even my waterproof mascara won’t stand a chance!

It was at this moment I remembered a lady my friend had been raving about. Her name is Candice Watson and she is a Semi Permanent Make Up specialist from the Harley Street in London.

My friend had completed a treatment of upper and lower eyeliner and eyelash enhancement and could not have been happier. Of course I dismissed this as ‘tattooing’ and a  little bit extreme for someone like myself. At this time I had three options – buy a treadmill for indoor use at home and really annoy the neighbours downstairs – scare off eligible men by risking make-up free outdoor ventures – or invest in some semi permanent make up for myself.

I booked for a consultation with Candice and she was surprised at how professional and down to earth, she was..not a tattoo in sight!

Candice explained that Semi Permanent Make Up uses pigments that will fade in 3-5 years and she wouldn’t go near the permanent ink the cheaper make-up tattooists use on their clients – this is the kind of work that fades to shocking green or blue and I really don’t fancy walking around showcasing blue eyebrows!

I booked my appointment and one week later was sporting some very attractive doe-eyes completely sweatproof ! I am so pleased with the results I have booked in to have my eyebrows enhanced next month…to follow my blog on overplucking disasters and how Exclusive Beauty UAE has just the remedy.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi: Micropigmentation Explained

Exclusive Beauty UAE

Semi-permanent make-up & medical micropigmentation in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Middle East

Micropigmentation is well known as a cosmetic procedure within the beauty industry, but what is less talked about is its important role in improving the quality of life for those whose appearance has been affected through trauma, accidents or medical conditions says Candice Watson of Exclusive Beauty who practices her micro-pigmentation at various locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

It is important to realise that this is not only a procedure for cosmetic beauty and vanity-it also has a positive impact on restoring people’s confidence and giving them back a normal life after suffering things such as burn scars, alopecia or breast reconstruction.

An estimated 183,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer occur annually in the USA, these fall into 3 categories based on its location and spread: EARLY INVASIVE and METASTIC.

The treatment options also vary dependant on cancer and choice of the patient, but many of them will result in a partial or full mastectomy, taking away the breast tissue and the areola of the breast.

This is where we can make a huge difference to the patient both aesthetically and mentally, by replacing the areola after they have breast reconstruction and giving the breast an amazingly realistic looking nipple again.

When dealing with patients who have got raised scarring or burn scars we do a treatment called MCA, this is a dry needling and dispersion technique which relaxes and flattens the scar and causes the scar to naturally re-pigment, this is a lifelong and permanent technique.

Alopecia or hair loss can affect men and women of all ages and cause not only the physical dilemma of having no hair, eyebrows etc but also cause psychological issues with sufferers becoming self-conscious about having skin patches showing through hair or no eyebrows (eyebrows frame the whole face and it is very noticeable when they are not present)

Micropigmentation is amazingly effective in disguising this by applying very natural looking eyebrows or hair strokes.

Semi-permanent make-up with Micropigmentation

Candice has been treating women with semi-permanent makeup for nearly 20 years and it has come a very long way since the day of the painfull noisy rotary machines that would take a long time to heal to the smooth digital high tech machine she now uses that is of the very highest quality on the market.

Semi-permanent make-up is now a comfortable and safe procedure that creates a result of natural and incredible beauty, and a treatment that is almost essential to anyone who wears make-up in the UAE! With the incredible heat and the constant sweating here in UAE how wonderful it is to not have your make-up running down your face every day, or to be able to just get up and go in the morning, or come out of the pool still looking fabulous!

Any look and colour can be achieved with this, so you will look great all the time and you will save time and effort each day by not having to perform your make-up regime time and time again.

Micropigmentation works by implanting a pigment under the top layer of the skin to the dermis which lasts for between 2 and 5 years, sometimes longer, the pigment is carefully chosen to match or enhance the patients skin tone, it is of utmost importance that colour theory is understood and the correct colour is used by the technician says Candice, unfortunately, many technicians have not been trained correctly in this, resulting in such things as blue or pink eyebrows and purple lips! Making the area stand out of the face instead of naturally blending in, which is the exact opposite of what you should be aiming to achieve.

Identifying the correct colour and using the best techniques when applying micropigmentation is what every client is looking for and these are the main skills I used to teach my students in my training school back in the UK.

Luckily Candice says, I also do removals of tattoos and micropigmentation so when patients come to me after having a poor treatment I can correct it for them.
Ms Watson, who used to practice in the renowned Harley Street in London, UK – a name synonymous with the highest standards of medical and cosmetic treatment available in the world – is hoping that her skills will help to improve the quality of life for those in the UAE with aesthetic problems or looking to enhance what nature provided with the use of the Semi Permanent Makeup.

“I have treated thousands of clients over the course of my career and I very much enjoy the ability to make women feel great when they choose micropigmentation as a form of semi-permanent make-up but without doubt, the most rewarding aspect of my job is to be able to enable both men and women to go out feeling happy and confident in themselves again.”

Permanent Make Up Dubai

Dubai:  The Changing Face of Permanent Makeup (SPMU) in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Region.

Permanent Make-Up or Semi Permanent Make-Up (SPMU) is going through a massive transformation in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the region.

The quality of SPMU in previous years has been substandard mainly due to relaxed regulations or not enforcing procedures within the emirate.  Whilst attempting to legitimise SPMU in Dubai we were appalled by the number of salons performing treatments for Semi Permanent Makeup with very little or no regard for up to date Health and Safety practices comparable to Harley Street of London.

Established Dubai practitioners are able to offer inferior treatments and get away with it as any complaints are often not made to the right department or just not made.
Exclusive Beauty offers the best treatments in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the region.  All our treatments are performed by Candice Watson who has over 25 years of Harley Street experience.

Candice is the founding partner of Exclusive Beauty UAE, the Harley Street Specialists now based in Dubai offering SPMU treatments at various locations within Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We use the only approved machine in the UAE which has the highest medical specifications.  Our needles are one use only and are so fine allowing for a build-up of colour using individual hair strokes and not the usual painful block technique.

Do not settle for inferior painful treatments, insist on the best.
